About Lucy Power

A social worker who has spent twenty years developing other professionals.

Lucy qualified as a social worker at the University of Bristol and practised in community learning disability teams in South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, where she led a team of fourteen social care professionals while holding her own complex caseload. She went on to become Director of People and Culture for a specialist autism care provider, with responsibility for recruitment, training, human resources and supervision of operational managers.

For ten years she led learning and development across Thera Trust and the Thera group of companies, a charitable group supporting adults with learning disabilities across England and Scotland. There she designed and delivered ILM Level 3 and Level 5 leadership programmes, managed training compliance for more than 4,000 staff and implemented talent management and succession planning across the organisation. That work included identifying colleagues whose leadership potential had not yet been recognised and supporting their progression into leadership roles. During the same period she served as Managing Director of The Quality Company, which employed people with lived experience to assess the quality of care services.

Since 2022 Lucy has run the Therapeutic Coaching Academy, providing coaching education, supervision and leadership development for individuals and organisations. She is a certified Personal and Business Coach, a qualified clinical supervisor and a subject matter expert in Transactional Analysis, trauma and leadership development. She has more than twenty years of experience as an approved short-breaks foster carer for an autistic young person with complex support needs.
